The Trauma Nursing Stream as part of the Master of Advanced Nursing offered in a partnership between the NTRI and Monash University is designed in response to an increase in demand for specialty trained nurses delivering trauma care. Two Masters level subjects have been created to teach Registered Nurses key aspects of trauma care. These subjects explore the whole journey of trauma care from pre-hospital to rehabilitation. Students will be provided content surrounding the assessment and management of trauma patients from time of initial injury and resuscitation and throughout their ongoing journey as a patient recovering from serious injury. Key factors associated with risk management and epidemiology of trauma will be explored, along with how the multidisciplinary team impacts the quality of trauma care delivered to patients with varying needs. Flexible teaching and delivery options have been chosen in order to cater for a range of individual career pathways including nursing, education or management positions within industry, government or independent professional practice.
